Pillowcase Night

Last night a group of women gathered together in our office to begin the Pillowcase Project. For several hours these women used their creative skills to design several different dresses for our sweet girls in Uganda.

I am excited about the joy these dresses will bring to our girls. They will get to put on dresses that were made just for them with no one else in mind. I know that this vision will mean so much to our girls as they received these dresses. It will be a joy to see them receive them in December.

Again, a special thanks to Renasissance Ribbons for their generous donation of ribbons!

Challenge

Often times I find that people rely too much on “Christian” books and preachers to teach them truth from scriptures and rarely rely on their only biblical studies. While it is good to seek wisdom from others, you also need to be aware of what the bible really says. I challenge you to know the gospel through your own study of the gospel. I want to encourage your pursuit of the gospel through a word of warning from the scriptures.

2 Timothy 4:3-5 "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."

2 Peter 3: 16b-17 "His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position."

1 John 4:1 "Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

1 Timothy 1:6-7 "Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm."

The Children

I wanted to send a quick update on the kids as I know most of you wish to know what they are doing. The kids have been enjoying a break from school for the last several weeks and will return back soon. During this time they have enjoyed some friendly competitions which has built a lot of unity among them.

There have been potato sack races, cake making, games, sports and numerous other activities. They have had a blast participating in the activies and have really began to show their personalities through these activities. They have all been able to use their creativity and have really come out of their shells. Even the mums had fun participating!

We hope they will continue to do this with future breaks as it has brought them closer and allowed them to show their personalities in a whole new light.

Bible vs Cell Phone

I recently received an email that made me think a little and I wanted to share if with all of you.

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?

Think about how much you use your cell phone and your bible. Which one gets the most of your time?

Renaissance Ribbons

Thank you Renaissance Ribbons for your donation of ribbons to support our efforts in getting new dresses to all of our girls! We are excited here in the office to start this project. The girls in the office were having fun trying to envision how the ribbons would best work with what pillowcase colors. I personally am excited to see the final product and to see the faces on our orphans when they receive a dress made with love!

If you choose to purchase ribbons to send to our office, then please support this organization as they have already supported us in our efforts. Thanks!

Birthdays

As many of you know already, many of our children are unaware of their actual birthdates so we celebrate everyones birthday together in July. We will throw a birthday party in both the Lira and Seeta Villages where the children will be treated to a large meal, complete with cake and soda (their favorites)!

The children love knowing that are experiencing this party because they are loved by not only their house moms and the CLM staff, but by their sponsors and donors that make the party a possibility.

If you haven't already, please consider sending in a donation for a birthday gift. A #20 donation will buy a small gift for a child as well as provide for the party. You can mail in payment or you can call in with your credit card of banking acount information. Please be sure to send in payments before mid-July!

Thanks for you continued support of our ministry and our wonderful children!

Soccer

It has been really neat for me to see the picture of our boys playing soccer. I am honored that they have been provided soccer uniforms and get to compete against one another. We desire for them to have shoes now too so we are trying to brain storm some ideas of how to get shoes their way. We have been looking into hosting a benefit soccer tournament or possibly getting donated gently used shoes. What a blessing it would be for our boys to have shoes to go with their uniforms.

Update: Flagstaff

I am very excited to have the chance to write to you from Flagstaff about all that God has done today in this city.

This morning was an early morning at the 15th Annual Flagstaff Christian Prayer Breakfast, but it was good to speak to the people present. It was electrifying to see business leaders, government officials, and clergy come together to response to a call of prayer for the city and the Nation.

After the citywide event, I headed to a smaller group meeting with some leaders in the city where we talked about hope for change in the city. It was a great conversation among leaders and I am excited to see movement among the people in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Flagstaff

I traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona yesterday to be part of the 15th Annual Flagstaff Christian Prayer Breakfast at the High Country Conference Center this morning at 7am! I am excited about joining the community in prayer! While I am here I will be speaking at four different services at a local church Saturday night & Sunday morning. Please pray with me for this weekend!

I will be flying back on Sunday to celebrate my wife being an incredible mother to our three children. Don't forget to love on your mom this weekend!

Alaska

Thank you for your prayers regarding my trip to Alaska. I am so glad that God called me to Alaska, it was not nearly as cold as I expected it to be!

When I landed Saturday, I had very little time to rest before I met with a group of mission trip participants for this summer. They will be building our orphan village a lavatory and hopefully a computer lab. We are so excited for their time there! Praise God!

Sunday, I spoke during two services at South Tongass Alliance Church with Pastor Cade King. Also, during my trip, I interviewed with a local radio as well as a newspaper. Monday evening, I spoke at a special event where there was standing room only. I was allotted a 15 minute slot to speak, but I really stretched the limits when I spoke for 20 minutes! Don't they know I can't speak for only 15 minutes? It is not in my nature! :)

God was definitely present during my stay in Alaska. All speaking events and interviews were powerful. If that wasn't proof enough, the sun was out the whole time I was there, which according to the locals is rare. They invited me back if I promised to bring the sun again. :)

Blessings,

Jackson Senyonga
