A Fence of Protection

We are excited to see all the progress that has been made on the fence in both the Lira and Seeta village. The Lira fence has already been completely finished and the Seeta fence is well on it’s way to being completed.

For those of you who have not heard, we are having to place a fence around our Lira and Seeta Villages to be in compliance with government standards. It is comforting to know that our children are safer now that the fences are being put up around the perimeter of the villages.

After finding out about the fences needing to be built, we became overwhelmed with the fact that these fences were going to be expensive to complete. We began to pray that the Lord would calm our uneasiness and provide a way to obtain the money to build these fences. The Lord answered in a mighty way and we immediately began to receive money from sponsors which helped to make the overall cost more affordable for the ministry.

These fences are such a blessing to our ministry, our kids, our staff, and even visitors. For example, a woman, from the United States, visited the village and after seeing the fence she immediately fell to her knees and praised God for the fence and what it meant for our children. There will be safety and protection over the lives of nearly 1,000 children.

The Lord has continually provided for us over and beyond what we needed. With one fence up and another one in progress, our children can now play outside safely and our staff members do not have to worry about unwanted visitors coming into the village. What a praise this is! Thank you for all of the prayers and support you have given to make this project possible. We truly believe the Lord has given us these kids to take care of and keep safe which we do not take lightly. With the new addition of the fences, we are able to continue shepherding this children into leaders of tomorrow.

Shakey Shakey, Wimpy Wimpy, Chicken Chicken

Thanks to a generous donation from a sponsor and ministry supporter, we now have some new residents at the Seeta orphan village: chickens! These chickens will eventually produce eggs, and in turn the eggs will be distributed to each of the orphan homes.

We have been told that the children are really enjoying having the chickens on site. They have really stepped up to help raise these chickens by caring for them by providing food and water. The only problem we are running into is that the children are madly in love with the chickens and don’t want to leave them. The children will gather around the chickens whenever they get a chance whether it be before school, after school, or before they go to bed. While this doesn’t seem like a problem at first, getting them to return to class can be challenging when they are pining over a “chick.”

We have nearly 90 homes so you can only imagine the amount of eggs we will need to provide for them all. We have dreams for this to grow significantly, and we need your help in order to make this happen. But, in order to have more eggs, we need more chickens, and in order to have more chickens, we will first need to build a larger facility than the one we have currently. We have approximately 150 chickens presently. We will quickly outgrow our space and need to build a larger space with electricity. Then, after that is completed, we can get more chickens. This is one of our steps to helping our orphan village become more self-sufficient, and we are also teaching children not only the art of farming, but the responsibility of caring for God’s creatures.

We would like to say thanks to Gary & Cheryl Sargent who have made it possible for us to purchase these chickens. What has started as a small project to provide eggs has evolved into a learning tool resulting in hundreds of smiles daily! Thank you!

House Mums

I would like to recognize the women who take care of our orphans. These women go above and beyond as they care for each of our little ones. I cannot imagine what it is like to take care of 12 kids inside my home like these women do. To feed them, get them to school, love on them, care for them when they are sick and on and on I could go. We are very greatful for these women!

Seeking Prayers

I write with sad (but not tragic) news today. One of our orphans in our orphanage village in Seeta, Uganda, Africa was bit by a stray dog this week. The dog was running through the village chasing a pig. When our child tried to divert attention and "shoo" the dog away, the dog turned and chased after the child. The child, not knowing better, ran away. The dog bit the child in the calf. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Thankfully, the child will be just fine! There will be some painful healing in his future, but he is expected to fully heal (with the exception of some scarring). Please pray for this child and his recovery!

“The summer of 2009 was my third trip to Uganda and working at the Seeta Orphan Village. People ask me about how hard it is to number one go and live in Africa and number two how to come back home after having witnessed what life is like over there. The poverty that is prevalent in parts of Uganda is not what leaves the biggest impact on my life but it is the people. God’s ability to change lives and bring hope and peace is seen on every face at Seeta Orphan Village and all around Uganda. These people have faced unimaginable hardships all throughout their lives but God has transformed their sorrow into joy. Uganda has become a second home for me. My happiest days are those that I spend at the Seeta Orphan Village and I am just as comfortable there as I am at home. I have developed great friendships with many children there, children who have taught me how to pray, worship, and have faith in an amazing God. There is not a day that goes by where I am not thinking about the orphans of Uganda and what I can do here in America to bless them. Good News from Seeta

We got a call from a church in Nevada that is interested in revamping our on-site clinic at our orphanage in Seeta. They want to sponsor another full time nurse as well as part time medical doctor. They're also looking into establishing a dental clinic at the same location including sponsorship/paying for a dentist to take care of the children.

This is great news!!
