Ugandan School Breaks Explained

I asked you to pray for the Ugandan Students because they are having their first school break for the year. In Uganda the students do not have the summer off, instead they have 3 main breaks during the year.

The first is in April/June and it lasts about 3 weeks.

The second is in August/September and it lasts 3 weeks.

The last is in December/January, it lasts about 2 months.

The 2 month end of the year break is centered around Christmas and the New Year. Interestingly enough the U.S. summer school break was centered around the summer months of harvesting so the students could come home and spend their breaks in the fields. Yet, Christianity was brought to Africa later and their “summer like” break is centered around a Christian Holiday.
