Livestock Numbers are doubling in Uganda

The numbers of Livestock that are being raised in Uganda are growing! I think this is great news because it stimulates the economy, can provide jobs for some, and can easily provide food for all! I really hope that we are eventually able to start a big of a farm in our orphan community; it would be such a great thing for all the children of all ages!

Increased Welfare for Health Workers in Uganda

I stumbled upon this small article today and thought it would be good to share. Uganda’s government will soon increase welfare for all the health workers in the country! I think it is great (and much needed) to see the people who are taking time away from their own lives, to help save others, are better being rewarded for their efforts! I can only pray for their blessings and thank God, that He has sent them to take care of Uganda’s people.

Independence Day

I know that this upcoming Saturday is Independence Day here in the United States! Even though Uganda’s Independence Day doesn’t come around until October 9th, I still can’t believe how fast the time has already gone by this year! I guess that’s what happens when you are having fun, and I know I am very much enjoying my time getting out and meeting everyone where I am speaking, spreading God’s word, and working hard to transform Uganda! This has been a very blessed year so far!

Newspaper Program

A program known as the Newspapers in Education program is positively affecting many Ugandan school children. This is great news! When representatives from the program began visiting school children recently, they witnessed a true desire from the children to learn, listen, as well as participate in discussions, and they even have learned the value in prayer!

America's Fight for Uganda

In recent days, months, and years, many Americans and American organizations continue to fight for peace and for the safety of the people of Uganda. On Tuesday, many people paraded Washington D.C. in hopes to get President Obama on board the fight. This overwhelming amount of support from other countries and people is amazing, and will never go unnoticed. It’s amazing to see that so many people are trying to transform Uganda in so many ways!

This Week

If you have turned on a television this week, you are probably aware that the entertainment world lost three of its greats. I hope that you will join me in prayer for their families, as well as the millions around the world that had, and will always have, a great love for them. I think this is simply a good reminder to all of us that life is short, that we should always live life to its fullest potential, and leave negativity, impatience, etc. behind. God has a plan for everyone and we must continue our faith in that, and in Him, and give Him thanks for all He does for us everyday.

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

Thank You

I just want to take a minute to thank all of our sponsors from Christian Life Ministries. You all make an incredible difference in all of these children’s lives. Be it that you are a full or a partial sponsor, your contribution is a great one. You all are such a blessing in the lives of these children and I thank God every day that he is using you all in such great ways.

My Fellowship this Morning

This morning, I had fellowship with several pastors in the Dallas area. We had a good time of fellowship, connection, and shared God’s words. Then, together, we prayed. It is so good to see all these things happening! It does my heart good to be with like minded leaders!

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

The Dallas Area

I believe God wants to do something powerful in the Dallas area. We are seeking God’s mind as to why our office is here. Though we don’t quite know the answer, we are making some wonderful connections here! It will be great to see Dallas transformed so please join me in prayer for this area!

Ugandan Music

There was recently a large music festival held in Kampala that showcased so many of Uganda’s extremely talented people! It was a very exciting event for the city! Even though some of these artists are not as commercially known as some other of today’s musical acts, they still were able to put on a great show and display their amazing talents to a very welcoming and adoring crowd!

We Can't Thank Them Enough!

All of our missions in the past months have done such a wonderful job on all of their trips! It really is a blessing to see so many people willing to help out! We have made so much progress in our orphanages as well as in our church. I can’t thank everyone enough for all of your hard work! It is because of you, and by the power and grace of God that we are able to transform so many lives! Thank you!

Interesting Uganda News

While browsing through some recent news articles concerning Uganda, I happened to find one I thought was very interesting! Although this article is a bit dated, it just made me happy to see something so positive happening. Uganda placed a ban on plastic bags due to their negative impact on the environment and even their ability to spread malaria. This alone is a good thing, but Ugandans have turned it in to so much more. Outside of Kampala, people started taking the old plastic bags and turning them into beautiful baskets, handbags, and other things such as this! Good stuff!

You can read more about it here:

Optimism in Uganda

While I’ve already discussed the wonderful new budget our government leaders in Uganda have set for us, there are so many other changes going on within our economy that are doing very well! I am so happy to see this as I feel it is making Ugandan’s have a very positive outlook on their futures, as well the country’s future! Keeping up optimism and keeping our faith is a great way for all of us to live!

First Day of Summer

Not only was this past Sunday Father’s Day, it was also the first day of summer. Can you believe it? It felt like summer a couple of months ago! Does anyone have any interesting travel plans for the summer months? As I mentioned before, we have another mission leaving for Uganda in July; they are going to have a great trip! Maybe sometime in the future, some of you will decide to visit Uganda for a summer, or just a regular vacation! I encourage you to do so; it is such a beautiful country! I also want to remind everyone, if you are at all interested in going on a mission with us to Uganda, please don’t hesitate to contact me! You all are such a blessing and I welcome you all to take on this fun, rewarding, and exciting challenge!

The Next Mission's Many Tasks

When the second mission comes in July, there are many things that will take place! One will include speaking at the Church! Pastor Judge Powell, from the west coast, along with the UKids team from the Abundant Life Church in Portland, Oregon, will be doing this! After speaking on Sunday, July 19th, the following Monday will be filled with training leaders sessions from morning to evening! This will be a great time! I will write more about the activities of this mission the next time I write!

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

Our Next Mission

We have another mission coming up in July! About 50 people will be on this mission from the west coast! They will execute many life giving projects. Some will be at the church, and others will be at the orphanage! It will be very exciting and productive!

The Mosquitoes Must Be Starving!

We have already seen a decline in sicknesses in our orphanage since installing the mosquito nets! The mosquitoes must be starving!…but that’s OK! Our clinic has is having less and less visits thanks to these nets! Thanks again to the mission team who helped install these! This was such a blessing!

Update on the Children in Our Orphanage

Last week, all of the children at the orphanage took a couple of days to just pray and fast for God’s purposes and directions in their lives. The children also prayed for their schooling and for better grades! Instilling this concept in them while they are young is a great idea! My wife Eve lead the prayers with them!

Faith

Without it, where would we be? I’m sure I don’t have to tell you all about the importance of faith in our lives, but I wanted to take a second to remind you! Everyone has situations in their lives that they pray about and would like to change, and I realize at times, it can be a frustrating wait. However, we have to keep our faith strong, that God is doing his work and hearing our prayers, and that his plans for us are in place. We must continue to have faith in him and all the good he will do!

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

Responding to Comments

I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone who has left me such wonderful comments on my blog, my Facebook page, as well as those who follow me on Twitter. I know in today’s world, technology plays a large part, and in my mission to transform the lives of children in Uganda and to spread the word of God, technology is working! I know it can be a lot to keep up with, but I thank you all again so much for your support! We could not do it without you, your prayers, and God’s blessings!

Tourism in Uganda on the Rise!

As I am writing, the number of people visiting Uganda is constantly growing! In my opinion, this is great news, as Uganda is a beautiful country that should be seen! Tourism in Uganda is a very promising part of Uganda’s economy and will hopefully be able to bring millions of dollars into the country so that we may better be able to provide for our people! Not only that, as tourism grows, the amount of job opportunities for Ugandan’s grows as well! Good stuff!

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

Speaking of Uganda Tourism...

Starting this past Tuesday, many representatives arrived in Uganda to discuss the Africa-Asia Business Forum on Tourism Development in Africa! The forum has many discussion topics, such as marketing strategies, product development, and partnerships! Hopefully this will also help to boost Uganda’s, as well as the entire continent of Africa’s, economy and help millions of people throughout Africa’s countries!

Ugandans Will Be Receiving Free Mosquito Nets!

Just like the mosquito nets that our mission teams delivered during their mission to Uganda this month, the Ugandan government will now begin giving mosquito nets out to its people! The distribution of the nets will begin in September and will first be given to children and pregnant mothers, but they will soon be given to all Ugandans! This is wonderful news! I can only pray that our fight against malaria can soon be won!

Progress in Uganda's Fight Against Malaria

Uganda has recently received a large amount of Malaria drugs worth about $1.2 million from the Global Fund! Last year, the country had a shortage of the medicine that will save many Ugandan lives, but this year, its looks as though we may have a chance in the fight against Malaria. We need to continue to pray that more and more people are able to receive treatment for this sickness! Thank God for all the progress that has been made! This is wonderful news!

Tonight

Tonight, I really hope that you will all welcome the interruption I mentioned in one of my posts yesterday! Sometimes, we are all guilty of getting caught up in our busy schedules, but we need to take time from those busy days, to have a chance to just relax; relax and welcome God’s plan into our lives!

Pastor Jackson Senyonga

Uganda's Growing Economy

Uganda’s economy is growing very rapidly! It is said to grow 7% throughout this year! This is great news, especially with the new budget Uganda’s government has set forth for 2009/2010! Great things are beginning to happen for this wonderful country and its people! We have been blessed to have been given government leaders who are making these great decisions and changes!

Fathers Day

With Father’s Day coming up this Sunday, I hope you all are able to be with your fathers and celebrate their day with them! Be it your biological father, a step father, or simply someone in your life that has been a father figure to you, it is a day to honor them! Being that this day falls on a Sunday, we can’t forget to honor our father, God, and all the blessings He has brought into our lives!

Ugandan Education is Recognized for Excellence

Uganda was recently awarded this years Commonwealth Education Good Practice award! The country was recognized as one that is working to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among school children. The program Ugandan schools are implementing is the Presidential Initiative on AIDS Strategy to Youth (PIACY). This program alone targets about 7.5 million school children! This is great news for the country and its growing education system! It is such a blessing that programs such as these are in place to help save the lives and educate our children!

Eve's Powerful Message

Sunday, at Christian Life Church, Eve spoke and delivered a powerful message. She told me the message was very moving and very well received. She discussed how the the choices we make affect more than just our lives, but the others around us as well!

We Welcome Home Our Last Mission Team!

The last mission team that were in Uganda are now back in the United States. Their last ministry was on Sunday, where they worshiped at Christian Life Church in Kampala. They were known as SOW or the School of Worship! They were such a blessing in all God used them to do!

God's Intervention

It is often said that unless God interrupts our schedule, we will never see transformation. On Wednesday, God will interrupt our schedule. People will cancel their plans and attend Church. I pray that lots and lots of people will attend that we know that, no matter what, God will be honored and glorified!

Last Weekend

Last weekend was one of many special moments. It was the first time I was being introduced to a new pastor and his ministry. Before I spoke, he introduced me with a joke. He mentioned that he was taking a risk by having me speak, having never heard me before. He said that he trusted his good friend, who did know of me, but if I spoke badly, it was not his fault, it was the fault of his trusted friend! As I started to speak, I wanted to break the ice a bit myself, so I also opened with a joke! I asked the people in attendance to act African while I was speaking! Many Africans are very enthusiastic in response to a message; they clap, are very vocal, etc. I told them, if they did this, I would do great, but if they did not, I was going to do lousy! If I was lousy, I told them, it wasn’t my fault, it was theirs! Amazingly, God came in and we had a blast!

International Women's Conference Being Held at CLC!

Our Christian Life Church in Kampala, Uganda will soon be filled with thousands of women and international guests from around the world! An international women’s conference will be held in our auditorium starting on July 8, 2009! Two heads of state wives will be official guests. The wife of the President of the Republic of Uganda, together with the wife of the President of the Republic of Rwanda are expected to be in attendance!

Uganda's 2009/2010 Budget

Uganda just released its new budget just a couple of days ago for 2009/2010! This budget details how the president and government will implement taxes, what will be taxed, and establishing new thriving, businesses in the economy that are backed by the government. People in Uganda hold on to their seats all year long for this budget to be released! We trusted in our leaders to again make great decisions and that is indeed what they have done!

You can read more about it at Uganda’s leading website, New Vision Online at http://www.newvision.co.ug/D/8/12/684450

Big Outreach Planned for Next Year!

We are planning a big outreach next year in order to establish fellowship around the capital city of Kampala, Uganda. These are going to be community centers, established to ground new believers in their new found faith!

Our Uganda Television Station

Our TV station is one of the highest ranked, best, and most popular in all of Uganda! Through our station, we are able to reach millions of people everyday with positive programming! It is such a blessing!

Welcoming Home the Last Mission Team

The last team from our most recent mission trip will return home this Monday! Please pray for their safe travels and pray for the ministry they will conduct this Sunday at Christian Life Church!

Update on the Children

Guess what! We are so blessed with our mission team from the United States! The team didn’t only install mosquito nets and other things for the children, they also brought the children 500 new pairs of shoes! All of the kids are now styling!

Beautiful Kampala!

Kampala is the beautiful, capital city of Uganda, Africa. By far the largest city in Uganda, Kampala is home to many incredible people and sites. You can be sure that Kampala is a safe, and enjoyable place to visit because the people of this great city make it so! Most people you will encounter will be very friendly, sociable, and very helpful if a need arises! Be it that you are viewing Kampala from the window of your hotel room or exploring the city for yourself, the skyline and the city’s surroundings cannot be ignored! The headwaters of the Nile River are located in Kampala, so this offers many activities for visitors such as rafting as well as safari’s! The experience of exploring the headwaters of the Nile and viewing wildlife on a safari is not one you will soon forget. Kampala offers many beautiful hotel accommodations in the heart of the city if you would rather experience the city, more so than the nature and wildlife! The many buildings and business in Kampala will light up at night and provide a breathtaking site!

Busy Summer Schedule

This summer we have a well organized schedule of strong ministry time! I will be traveling in and out of Dallas, so please pray for my travels as well as for my family who are in Africa at this time doing ministry. I will soon be joining them! These trips are all going to be very productive and enjoyable so I just ask for your prayers during this time as I will be praying for everyone who is also traveling and enjoying their summer!

What to Expect on a Flight to Uganda!

I know many people have fears of flying, especially when it comes to traveling long distances, such as a trip to Uganda. The trip really isn’t as bad as you might think! The flight is approximately 18 hours long, and there are a couple stops along the way for breaks; one stop being in Europe! The trip offers an incredible, life changing experience, so I would encourage anyone considering visiting Uganda to face your travel fears and go for it!

This Weekend

This Sunday morning, I will be speaking at the Grace Community Assembly of God in Flower Mound, Texas. I am really looking forward to meeting all who attend! We will be praying for all who need to be reached! It should be a great time!

Texas Weather

The weather here yesterday afternoon and the greater part of today has been MUCH different than the weather I am used to in Uganda! There were reports of Tornados, extremely high winds, hail, and even flooding throughout this region of North Texas. I hope that everyone in this area made it through these storms with no damage or injuries!

The Change We Want to See in Uganda

At first glance, when a person takes a look at Ugandaand the many happenings of such a busy country, it might be easy for one to develop a pessimistic attitude. However, when taking a deeper look, we are finally being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this country! In today’s society, it isn’t uncommon to hear about the continent of Africa, the turmoil in its countries, the poverty, orphans, AIDs, etc, but thanks to the fact that that this atrocity has been shown to others, we are finally beginning to see a change in the continent; the change its countries have been waiting for!
More and more resources from governments, as well as other donors, are being poured in to better establish hospitals, which will provide much needed medical care to the country of Uganda’s inhabitants. The amount of money going toward this healthcare development is almost 90% of the entire government of Rwanda’s budget; 1.3 Trillion Ugandan Shilling. (The Independent, theindependent.co.ug) The economy itself, the education system; it is all growing at amazing rates. Thanks to many organizations, mission trips, and other volunteers, the country’s abandoned children are able to find sponsors who are able to, with just a small portion of their time, able to change lives.
Regardless of what we hear in the media, read in the newspapers, or see online, there are a lot of positives that we do not always see concerning Uganda. Through prayer, through the generosity of others, and through the grace of God, we can change the lives of many in this country!

Good News

At the writing of this blog, all of the children now have beds and they were able to sleep in mosquito nets! Thanks so much to all of you who made this happen by providing resources! Thank to the 2009 mission trip as well who provided those mosquito nets! We will now see less and less children getting sick because of this!

Mid Week Service

As I write, we have just finished up the first Mid Week Service at our newly planted church. It was unbelievable! Everyone who attended showed they were very serious about their new found faith! They just streamed in and exhibited seriousness through God’s word! From what we witness, it will be a very strong church!

December Mission Trip

As you know, in December another group will be visiting Uganda! For our end of year celebration in the past, we have had tens of thousands of people attend! Immediatly after December 31, the mission trip will split the mission activities and will possibly get to enjoy a safari while on their journey! If you have the time and the resources to attend our December mission, please let us know! You can contact me through my facebook page, or from my twitter page as well!

The Children's Special Presentation for the Mission Trip

Tomorrow, our children will hold the presentation for their guests as I mentioned! It is turning out to be a full blown party! The kids will eat, celebrate, and enjoy getting to know their guests. Some unsponsored children will introduce themselves to their guests. We really hope there will be a connection there! Be praying for that!

The Mission Team's School of Worship

Part of our mission trip this year has been comprised of the School of Worship (SOW). This team has done amazing things since they first arrived in Uganda. They have installed mosquito nets in our orphan village, they led worship in the crusade for the church plant, and this weekend, they will be in the leading worship at Christian Life Church - our main chuch. Oh, and by the way, they will also be leading worship tomorrow at the mid week service (1st mid week service) at the new church plant! Cool stuff!

Mission Trip Update!

Our Mission Trip members are taking a few days off as I mentioned yesterday. They went to Lake Mburo, which is several hours away from Kampala to see the animals and the falls. They’re returning tomorrow and will be at our orphan village for the children’s special performance on Thursday. Several members of the team will be traveling back to the States on Friday, others on Saturday, and the rest will be traveling back next Monday!

Conversions at Last Night's Meeting

Despite that it was a Monday night, we saw at least 10 people that raised their hands to receive Christ in their lives. It was a thrill; especially for a Monday night! That speaks of two things; Peoples openness for the things of God and loving Christians, who are willing to extend their hands and invite their friends to church!

Last Night

Last night, we filled up more chairs at Northplace Church! We had a packed house! We even had to add more chairs to make sure that everyone was accommodated! The worship was thrilling! The atmosphere was full of excitement! God’s people were just open to whatever God had for them! Thank you all for praying for these meetings. God was truly honored and glorified!

This should be encouraging to us all to know that more and more people are willing to take time our of their everyday lives to pursue after God!

A Special Peformance for our Mission Trip!

On the last day of the mission trip, the children will have organized a treat for their guests; they will put on a performance of dance, music, drama, and skits as a thank you for their guests! It will be held in a multipurpose hall and drinks and snacks will be served! It should be a great time!

Mission Trip Update!

Today our mission trip is taking a bit of a break! They have all gone for some site seeing at the source of the Nile River, which is about an hour away from the city of Kampala. They will also be going on a safari to try and catch a glimpse of some local wildlife! It should be a blast and a much needed break after working so hard! It's now their time to play!

Uganda Medical Mission Update!

Our Medical Mission in Uganda successfully opened a church yesterday! The first service was attended by those who have given their hearts to God during our Medical Outreach. It was such a joy to see the transformation that has occurred in only a matter of days. People who attended have now become a part of God's Kingdom! Thank you again to our Medical Team!

Returning to Northplace Church Tonight!

We are doing it again tonight at the Northplace Church in Sasche. We expect all in attendance to invite all your friends and family! We will pray for the felt needs of the people! You may want to come early to make sure you have a seat! We don't expect for tonight to run as long as last night but, we will just go with the flow! For you who cannot join us, please just join us through prayer!

A Great Weekend!

We had a great weekend at Northplace Church this weekend in Sasche, Texas! I spoke on Sunday in the morning and then again at 1:30. We enjoyed a lot of music and message! It was a thrill to see how many people were so engaged and flexible. It was truly a blessing! At Northplace on Sunday night, we didn't know what to expect. The turnout was at capacity, with a few people watching from the cafeteria. It was really a special night! We challenged everyone to break any restrictions and go deeper into God. After the last prayer, we realized 3 hours had already gone by! Wow! Someone must have been hungry - hungry for God! So hungry that we just forgot about time!

Psalms 63

This morning, I was impressed by the scripture of Psalms 63: I was overwhelmed by David’s hunger and thirst for God in his life. The question is, are we hungry for God’s purposes to be done in and through our lives? That’s what I am praying about throughout this day!

About 500 Children Received Shoes!

One of the Family Team members on our medical mission had a desire to buy children shoes. Yesterday, it was amazing to see hundreds of pairs of shoes bought for the children. Our kids cannot believe it; to see someone they never met, they don’t look like, someone who is not from their neighborhood, caring that much! This is only possible through the love of Christ!

Salvation Through Medical Work

Our medical outreach has registered significant results from their practices! Talking to Dr. O’Connell who led our Medical Mission Team from the States to Uganda, most of the patients have given their hearts to the Lord. This is incredible!

Mission Update

Our Medical Mission Team is thrilled with the outcome yesterday. They had more people that came from the community for medical treatment than they had time to see! They had a lot of left over people who they were going to start seeing. 1st thing this morning: keep praying for them!

Water Project in Uganda

We are starting to build more systems as we expand our water system in Seeta. The Ukids team is coming from Portland this July to ensure that the expansion in the water project is executed. They are also helping us to fund this endeavor . In July we will drill for more water and one person has already donated money for the bore hole we believe this will be great.

The Medical Out Reach

The setup for the medical outreach is like this: we have a tent set up adjacent to a church plant, remember the church plant is brand new, steal poles and iron sheets are able to seat about 300 people. When people come in they take a number and then wait within the church, when they are ready to be seen they go inside of the tent. We have set up 10 stations of seen patients with medical tables and supplies. As people wait we have team members who encourage them welcome them and talk to them about their general situations and their Christian lives. After the doctors treat they people they offer a short prayer for the patients. Each one of the patients is encouraged to return in the evening for the gospel crusade.

Assessing the Situation in Uganda

This evening in Uganda the team has been checking out the village so they can make plans to start helping. The local hosting team is excited to have them again; the kids cannot wait. I believe it is going to another time for reunion for those who are returning and also time of connection for those who are visiting for the first time. We believe greater bonding will take place and effective ministry will be executed, please continue to pray for the kids.

First Mission Team Arrives in Uganda

Our big mission team has already arrived in Uganda, so far 29 short-term mission US guests have arrived in Uganda between yesterday and today. Though a couple of bags were lost, one has been redeemed, the other is expected later on, not too bad for over sixty bags full of medical supplies that have been shipped or carried. Please pray for quick recovery from jetlag, other teams are ready to dive in.
