The afternoon was a great time of fellowship. We went downtown Standford and ate dinner in a special restaurant on I think the 18th floor of a gorgeous building. My host and his family and friends treated me to a great steak and since I was due for a good steak, I dug in! I stuffed myself so much, I thought someone was going to have to roll me out of there, that was if I would fit through the door! I thought I was going to pop!

Greenwich, CT
On Sunday, I spoke in three morning services in Greenwich, CT. The three services were just amazing. They were finished in a flash because the Lord was moving. God saved his people and blessed those in attendance. I challenged people to believe that with God you cannot fail and without Him you can do nothing!

Men's Retreat
On Firday evening, I spoke at the Men's retreat in the evening main session, challenging and encouraging the men to persue after their lost territory and recover all... Lost influence, position, intimacy, or physical loss including health or monetary.
In I Samuel 30, God encouraged David and his men to go after their enemies, overtake them and He promised David that as he obeyed, he will absolutely recover all the lost/stolen properties, children, wives, etc. that the Amerikites had captured.

Connecticut Trip
It was great to see Connecticut in the fall... beautiful colors of the trees, the brisk breeze against my face...
From the plane view above to every place I went, it was so wonderful!
In Africa, we definitely have a green, tropical climate but absolutely no fall season... so we never see these multi-colors!

Ohio This Weekend!
This weekend in Ohio, God was amazing! We had a great number of people return for the evening services, which was wonderful to see! We received sponsorship for a great number of children, almost 70! Also, I prayed for each person there (and there were a whole lot!). By the end, I was so exhausted yet overfilled with joy and love. Thank you, God, for speaking through me!

Technical Schools in Uganda
http://allafrica.com/stories/200910120535.html
I found this article, and it makes me happy to see that Uganda is concentrating on technical education for its people. The people of Uganda show an overwhelming yearning for learning (wow! I rhyme!), and it is refreshing to see that the government is also trying to give Ugandans abundant resources to do so. Enjoy the reading.

AIDS in Uganda

I found this article. I think it is a good read to those that don’t fully understand the prevalence of AIDS in Uganda.
It also shows some of the measures Uganda is taking to prevent further spread of this awful disease, which is always refreshing to know that the country you give your sweat, tears, and blood to wants improvement just as much as you do!

Experience in Uganda - Tiffany Gosvener
Tiffany Gosvener at Uganda Orphan - Christian Life Ministries
“The summer of 2009 was my third trip to Uganda and working at the Seeta Orphan Village. People ask me about how hard it is to number one go and live in Africa and number two how to come back home after having witnessed what life is like over there. The poverty that is prevalent in parts of Uganda is not what leaves the biggest impact on my life but it is the people. God’s ability to change lives and bring hope and peace is seen on every face at Seeta Orphan Village and all around Uganda. These people have faced unimaginable hardships all throughout their lives but God has transformed their sorrow into joy. Uganda has become a second home for me. My happiest days are those that I spend at the Seeta Orphan Village and I am just as comfortable there as I am at home. I have developed great friendships with many children there, children who have taught me how to pray, worship, and have faith in an amazing God. There is not a day that goes by where I am not thinking about the orphans of Uganda and what I can do here in America to bless them. One of my favorite things about going to Uganda is being able to witness how God can use the giftings of Americans and the giftings of Ugandans to equally bless each other more than the other could imagine possible all the while giving all glory to God and building His kingdom” –Tiffany Gosvener

God will save America!
Is it true that America has reached a point beyond human help? Is it true that the layers of unconsistency and disobedience are so thick that it will require a great move of God to peel them off the fabric of the nation? When you watch the media or hear talk shows, it may sound and feel that way, but I believe as we commit to strategic, coordinated, desperate prayer, God is able to transform this beloved nation. For sure we cannot heal ourselves but God promised that He will!
2 Chronicles 7:14 -- if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Church Planting Mission Trip
One of the things we wish to emphasize during next summer’s mission trips is church planting around Kampala. Of course, people will have the ability to serve other ministries like the orphan ministry, etc. We are asking churches to come to Uganda to plant a church. A church or even an individual can sponsor a church planting, which will include buying a small piece of land, building the church structure, plus outreach that will enable the church to be launched. If this is a timely decision, we can do all of the preparation to have the church launched during your mission trip. This could be a life giving moments for you and the rest of your church group or mission trip team.
Please call or email us if your group or church would like to plant a church in Uganda. info@christianlifeministries.org or 972-307-LIFE

Isaiah 25:9
Today in my devotional, I read Isaiah 25 verse 9. It is about an answered prayer to waiting people. In brief, it says one day you shall say, “This is our God. We have waited for him.”
I pray that you’ll experience this in your own life and be able to say, “This is my God!” Not once… Not twice… but many times!
But as you wait upon the Lord, I pray that you see him come through for you.

Orphan of the Week
We never got a sponsor for Gertrude, so she will remain our orphan of the week. Here is her information again:
We estimate her age to be 11 years old. She is now housed in Seeta, and her ID# is 6367.
Background information:
o Gertrude’s father died, and he left her mother to take care of seven children.
o Gertrude’s mother is jobless and has no way to support her children.
o Gertrude was brought to the orphan village with hopes to be able to go to school and be taken care of.
o Gertrude dreams of becoming a very powerful lady.
Help Gertrude have all of her needs provided for by becoming her sponsor or spreading the word with us to get her a sponsor. Full sponsorship, which will cover all of her needs as well as her tuition, is only $60 per month, or we can take two partial sponsors at $30 per month.
When you sponsor a child, you allow us to take in more children off of the streets of Uganda and put them in a loving home with a caring village!
To become Gertrude’s full or partial sponsor, call 972-307-LIFE (5433) and tell us you want to sponsor Gertrude! Or, you can email us at info@christianlifeministries.org.

Getting the Message to the World
Getting the message to the world. Matthew 28:19
Maximizing the Kingdom in this generation must require us to use all the available tools, like the internet, twitter, blogging, and mass media initiative. As it has been said, the message (of the Gospel) is always the same but the method must keep changing to reach our changing world. When the message changes, it becomes a mess… but its not a mess but a message in this mass world.
Use your tools to spread the message of Christ.

Solar Power for Seeta Village
A recent project in Misindye, a village near Seeta, brings solar power to the homes and businesses of the village. The project brought in 5 small solar power stations, enough to run 35 households and 2 commercial refrigerators. Solar is ideal for areas like Misindye where the homes are stand-alone units because extending the grid would be unfeasible or very expensive. There are definitely challenges for this growth, but this installation shows that it can be done!

In some ways, Uganda’s slow growth has been negative. But, in other ways, like this one, it is positive. When America was growing, the best ways to get electricity were also the most unhealthy for the environment. Now, as Uganda grows and needs electricity, the technology of solar is available, giving Uganda an opportunity to grow in a clean and healthy way.
Pray with me that Uganda’s growth remains healthy and clean and that Uganda can learn from America, China, Japan, and other countries and take advantage of better technology available today.

Reforestation Project in Uganda
I recently read this article, and it made me excited. It is about a reforestation project that recently was approved in Uganda that has been named as a carbon dioxide emissions reducer under the Kyoto Protocol and will be funded by World Bank’s BioCarbon Fund.
This news is exciting to me because I see great potential for Uganda. First, the project will, as stated, reduce carbon emissions, keeping the air of Uganda clean. Second, of course, the natural forest area will keep Uganda beautiful and be home to wildlife and plants. Third, which is a big one, this project will create approximately 700 new jobs for Ugandans. Fourth, this project will bring money to Uganda’s economy. Fifth, this project will help Uganda meet its need for wood without continuing to deplete forests. A beautiful, clean country with a blossoming economy may lead to more tourism, etc. that will also bring money to Uganda’s economy. More money for the economy means more families can afford education, medical care, etc. I know I am leaping into the future, but I see this as a gateway into a beautiful future for Uganda, which is just what we have been aiming for!

Orphan of the Week - Gertrude
We have started a program that we like to the “Orphan of the Week,” in which we as a ministry try to get at least one child sponsored per week. This week’s Orphan of the Week is Gertrude Nabisenke.
We estimate her age to be 11 years old. She is now housed in Seeta, and her ID# is 6367.
Background information:

Mobile Phones save the Bananas?
I found this article about a banana disease scientist and his cell phone. Uganda isn’t as flooded with technology like the U.S. Because electricity is scarce, it is hard to move technology in. Mobile phones are rare because of the difficulty in finding a place to charge them. I posted a blog a while back that talked about solar powered mobile phones being produced in Uganda just for that reason.
This article talks about Laban Rutagumirwa, a banana disease tracker in rural Uganda. Because there is nowhere close to charge his mobile phone, he must do so with a car battery. He walks over four mile each time his phone’s battery dies to ensure that he can stay in touch with scientists to help track and stop diseases in the banana plants, protecting the crop that covers about 40% of Uganda’s farmable land and serves as a staple food for over 12 million people. “Losses from banana disease are estimated to be $70 million to $200 million each year.”
“With his phone, Mr. Rutagumirwa collects digital photos, establishes global positioning system coordinates and stores completed 50-question surveys from nearby farmers with sick plants. He sends this data, wirelessly and instantly, to scientists in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.”
The growth of mobile phones is the fasted in Africa, growing far faster than internet connections, which is opposite in the United States. Not only do mobile phones allow banana scientists to track diseases in the field, but it also allows for people to gain information, buy and sell product, transfer money, turn on water wells, etc. To a society that remains cut off to some extent, mobile phones are opening communication lines and helping society grow together.
“The use of the mobile phone,” Mr. Bangirana said, “has empowered the community to know what they never knew and ask any question concerning their surroundings.”

I just thought this article was interesting. I get caught thinking like an American and taking things for granted, like the ability to easily get in touch with anyone, whether it be a neighbor or a friend that lives on the other side of the world. The ability to communicate is much taken for granted here, and it is interesting to think about how life would be without that communication, like it is in Uganda for so many!
The interesting thing about Uganda is, though, that even with the high growth of cell phones, people there continue to value face to face conversation! I hope that remains because that interaction is almost the definition of Ugandan culture.

Staying At It
I have been reminded of a story when Peter had fished all night and caught nothing. Jesus came to Peter and told him to go back to the lack and fish. Peter said we have done this before and caught nothing... Nevertheless, because it is your word, I will do it. They did and caught a lot of fish.
Remember, Peter didn't go to another lake, use another boat, or buy new nets. He changed his attitude and stayed at it with Jesus's command.
Miracles will happen in familiar places if you do the same...

School Construction.. Continued
Very soon, our orphans in our orphan village in Uganda will be studying from their newly constructed school. This is great news and though the structures are temporary, the kids have something to call their own, and it is a great thing. We will post pictures for you to see and share soon!

Wilmington Trip
Our time in Wilminton was too good for words! The ministry went strong, and the Lord blessed us here. But you know, this is home to me. Pastor Ron is my pastor. It is great to see God at work in the lives of many people. One family at The Rock bought two houses for orphans... what a heart, what a gift! Please continue to pray for Pastor Ron and Norma together with Pastor Brian and Jennifer for all the great work God has ahead of them.

Our trip with Eve to Jacksonville was nothing but an overwhelming success! The biggest for us was the fellowship and the reconnection with some of the friends that had gone to Uganda years ago. Pastor Chris and Miriam were great hosts. Their ministry is thriving. Their touching their city, and they are impacting lives across the globe by significantly partnering with us. Please keep praying for their vision for God's glory.

Doing Your Best
Everyday we are presented with opportunities and challenges; the way we respond to both determines the results we receive from them. This is my attitude to whatever is presented before me:
I will do my best everyday in every way by His grace.
Adopt this attitude for the rest of the month, and see where it takes you. God bless you!

Final Day at CFN
Today was the final day of the 4 days of ministry at Christ for the Nations. It was great to see students overwhelmingly respond to the altar call for impartation. With passion to change their world they cried out to God for personal transformation. Wow!! God did amazing things!

Campaign for Desks
I thought this article brought to light just some of the minor difficulties that many children in Uganda endure. There are many schools that cannot afford to provide desks for the children. Lack of desks lead to bad posture, exposure to very dirty floors complete with allergens and irritants, lack of comfort which makes concentration on school work difficult, etc. Our children have desks, thanks to the donations made for our school construction. Such a small piece of furniture can make such a large difference when raising the future of Uganda. Thank you for helping us make these children's lives better!

Jessica Simpson's Time in Uganda
I came across an article complete with a picture about Jessica Simpson's trip to Uganda. I found this strangely inspirational. Simpson is working on a VH1 series, "The Price of Beauty" (premiering 2010) about women around the world, and she traveled to Uganda to explore the lives of women there. Although it took some fortitude to get used to the circumstances (i.e. sleeping in a tent, wild animals and bugs, etc.), she wrote on her Twitter: "Uganda was truly a beautiful adventure," she Tweeted. "I will carry the spirit of all the people with me always. God Bless."
